Toronto Raptors Receive: G/F RJ Barrett
New York Knicks Receive: F OG Anunoby, F/C Chris Boucher
This one feels a little more likely to suit both parties. On New York’s end, they’re getting a win-now upgrade. This team doesn’t need much from Barrett besides floor spacing and defense. He’s shaky on both fronts.
In contrast, Anunoby is one of the best 3-and-D wings in the NBA. He could be an intriguing option to slide down to the four spot when the Knicks want to go smaller and maximize their defensive versatility in the playoffs, too.
Right now, the Knicks don’t have a great option to deploy that qualifies as that bigger wing that can just straight-up check the opposing team’s star wing when the matchup calls for it. Anunoby would be an upgrade in that respect. How the Knicks handle Jimmy Butler in the Eastern Conference Semifinals will be something to monitor.
The Raptors would be investing in Barrett’s future. He may not be as impactful as Anunoby at the moment, but he has flashed more potential as a shot creator. If they believe in Barrett’s ceiling as a player, it would be something to consider.

The fact that he’s Canadian doesn’t hurt, either. That always gives the Raptors an inside track on retaining talent. Who knows? Barrett could still develop into a star player. That would be a pleasant surprise for everyone.
