Why The Milwaukee Bucks Do The Deal
For the Bucks, this is a simple win-now upgrade. After all, they’re not relying on either Carter or Beauchamp right now. Yes, Allen is a key member of this rotation, but he is expendable.
Especially if they’re receiving a player who can replace him. Trent Jr. would plug right into Allen’s spot. He provides similar shooting and hustle, but he’s a far superior athlete. He’ll make the Bucks better.
Milwaukee must find feasible ways to add younger talent, given that the current core is unlikely to stay intact for years. Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton are set to be free agents this offseason. Lopez is already 35, too.
Something that seems to get forgotten is that Jrue Holiday has talked about retiring at the end of his contract, which expires after the 2024-25 season. It remains to be seen if he will end up sticking with that commitment, but it’s something to keep in mind.
