Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
The Nets do this deal to avoid the mediocrity treadmill. We’re not sure which direction this organization should take. As we said, they’re in an odd spot. With that said, this is the route we’d predict them to go.
After all, owner Joe Tsai is prideful. He seems to prioritize having a competitive team over a long-term outlook. If that’s true, this is the right deal for Brooklyn.
Moreover, it should make them a dangerous team. The Nets are stacked with quality role players. If they could add an elite shot creator like Lillard, they could even be poised for a deep playoff run.
One of the main benefits of this trade has nothing to do with adding Lillard, too. The Nets would be able to get rid of Ben Simmons before having to do another attempt of hoping he can turn things around.

Simmons has likely what is the worst contract in the NBA. It would be truly beneficial to move on from him and if he can be helpful to salary match for a superstar, it’s an intriguing option.
Should the Blazers put them in that position?
