Injuries. Is there anything worse? Not for fans of professional sports. Injuries can ruin a playoff series. Worst of all, they can ruin entire careers. Nobody could call Kawhi Leonard’s NBA career ruined.
This is a multiple-time NBA champion and a Defensive Player of the Year winner. If Leonard retired tomorrow, he’d be a future Hall of Famer. With that said, injuries have certainly compromised his greatness.
As outstanding as Leonard is, he’d be even more decorated if he could just stay healthy. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. At some point, are they going to have to explore trade value for him to prevent themselves from being stuck?
If the Clippers conclude that trading Leonard is best for their future, the trade market would probably reflect that reality. It would likely come with a short list of teams in a position to make such a move.
One team that stands out as a logical potential contender for Leonard’s services is the New York Knicks, who could raise their ceiling in a needed way with such a move.
Should the Knicks acquire him from the Clippers this summer anyway?
