It’s possible to have too much of a good thing. Ice cream is good. If you don’t like it, seek help. At the same time, you can absolutely eat too much of it. NBA teams can have too much of a good thing, too.
For example, having two starting-caliber big men that can’t shoot can be problematic. You likely cannot play them together. This is a dilemma the Detroit Pistons are currently facing.
Jalen Duren had a strong rookie season, but in a puzzling move, the Pistons acquired James Wiseman anyway. He looked good during his time with the team as well.
There isn’t much point in keeping all of the bigs the Pistons have given the way the NBA is being played in the modern era. It would be logical to move one for value this offseason.
One team that is desperate to add an answer at the center position is the Dallas Mavericks. They could be motivated to get something done in a hurry.
Could the Pistons send Duren to the Mavs given it could solve a need for both teams?
