Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal 

More than anything, this deal gives Dallas a second chance at rebuilding. 

Hopefully, they’ll have learned lessons. Just because a player is capable of dragging you to the playoffs doesn’t mean you should task them with doing so. Dallas has failed to improve the roster around their star. 

If they’re lucky, they’ll nab another franchise player with one of these picks. Replacing Doncic will be nearly impossible, but if they can build a better team around their next star, they could have a better outcome. 

This deal gives them the best chance of doing so. They’re getting three young players with some intrigue here, but that isn’t the point.
