Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal
Obviously, we see this as an immediate downgrade for the Celtics.
After all, Wiggins is not a shot-creator on Brown’s level. At the same time, he does replace much of his 3-and-D skillset. In fact, Wiggins may even be an upgrade on the defensive end.
Of course, that’s why the Celtics are getting two first-round picks here as well. They could use those picks to make another trade down the line.
If that works out, they could eventually be upgrading their roster here.
Meanwhile, Brown seems to want out of Boston anyway. If that’s true, it’s unlikely that the Celtics will be able to keep him forever.
