Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal
We’ll only say this: if the Raptors have dreams of winning a title in the near future, they may want to adjust their thinking. They aren’t being very realistic.
Frankly, this team is trending downwards. It seems as if Toronto’s roster-building strategy of stacking playmaking wings has backfired. Now, they’re struggling to create in the half-court.
With that in mind, some will say Kuminga is an odd target. Here the Raptors go again, landing a two-way wing. We’d counter that Kuminga is different – if he hits his potential, he’ll be more of a shot-creator than a playmaker.
Yes, this deal does leave the Raptors with a glut of wings. Wiggins is redundant with Anunoby, and they’ll need to figure out how to incorporate Barnes and Jonathan Kuminga.
