Firstly, the Hornets probably aren’t interested in doing this deal if Ball is happy in Charlotte. Unfortunately, rumors have suggested that we might not be.
If that’s so, moving on before he depreciates his own value by demanding a trade could be sensible. If that’s the plan, this is a good return.
After all, Giddey has flashed star potential in his own right. As a jumbo playmaker, he’s similar to Ball as well. The Hornets could plug Giddey right into their system.
With that in mind, Giddey hasn’t shown himself to be on Ball’s level either. That’s why the Hornets are getting three unprotected first-round picks here.
