Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
in the short term, of course not. The Jazz are moving the best player in this deal by a long shot.
If anything, this is a concession of error from the Jazz. Being as competitive as they were this season may have been a mistake. Their odds of landing Victor Wembanyama, or any top prospect, are extremely slim.
That isn’t the end of the world. There will be more good prospects. Still, as long as Utah keeps Markkanen on the roster, they won’t have a good chance of landing them.
Meanwhile, they won’t likely be winning an NBA title any time soon, either.
