The Dallas Mavericks could not have envisioned the 2022-23 NBA season that they had.
At least, fans certainly didn’t. The Mavericks were not supposed to trade for Kyrie Irving. When they did, they became the talk of the NBA world.
Having traded for him, they weren’t supposed to throw the end of the season. Yet, that’s exactly what they did.
The Mavericks tanked the last couple of games of the year to maximize their odds of keeping a top-10 protected pick that they otherwise owe to the New York Knicks.
Many would say that the Irving trade failed. With that said Dallas would love to get a full offseason to put a team around Irving and Luka Doncic.
Could that include acquiring Mo Bamba from the Los Angeles Lakers?
