Every NBA team needs a playmaker. What is a playmaker?
For most, the word conjures the image of an elite passer. That’s part of the equation, but it’s not the entire thing. Making plays for yourself counts as playmaking too.
In fact, it’s an important component of playmaking in the NBA. The more easily a playmaker can create for himself, the more defensive attention he’ll draw.
That makes it easier for him to create plays for others.
Still, making plays by passing will always have a role in the NBA. By that measure, LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets remains an elite playmaker.
Meanwhile, a team like the Brooklyn Nets could badly use him.
What if they traded for him this summer?
