Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal 

The Celtics do this deal because Brown is angling for a departure. They wouldn’t be interested otherwise. 

After all, Brown is a few years younger than Siakam. He also already has preexisting chemistry with this roster. This is not an ideal situation for this team. 

It’s not a disastrous one, either. Pascal Siakam is an excellent player. Realistically, he’s in the same tier as Brown. This deal keeps the Celtics in contention. 

That’s likely all they could ask for. This team is too talented and too well-constructed to punt on contention.
