According to some, the formula for success in the NBA is simple.
First, you need a superstar. Ideally, we’re talking about a top-5 player. Next, you need to find them a co-star. Finally, you need to surround those players with the best 3-and-D players you can find.
That makes sense – if you’ve got a top-5 (ish) player. With that in mind, the Los Angeles Lakers should take that route.
Next summer, they need to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis with the best spacing they can.
Meanwhile, a team like the Miami Heat should get a little more creative. Jimmy Butler probably isn’t a top-5 player. Still, this team has enough talent that with the right moves, they can be contenders.
