Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G Kyrie Irving 

Mavericks fans may be outraged. They will not love this return. 

That’s fair. The Mavericks gave up Dorrian Finney-Smith and a first-round pick to land Irving. That is not equivalent to this return. We understand that. 

At the same time, a player of Irving’s caliber should have gone for more than Finney-Smith and a first. Surely, there’s a reason Irving keeps getting moved for pennies on the dollar. Realistically, it’s that same unpredictable nature we discussed. 

On the other hand, that might be a moot point here anyway. Irving is a free agent. The Clippers could trade these pieces elsewhere to clear cap and sign him outright.

If anything, Dallas is being done a favor here.
