Some say that when building an NBA team, you need to get the most talent you can and sort the rest out later.
There’s some merit in that position. Talent comes first in the National Basketball Association. If you’ve got two great young players that don’t fit with each other, you can eventually trade one of them.
At the same time, that day is going to come. Nobody benefits if there’s an issue with a roster.
The team will have a harder time winning, and each individual player will have a harder time with their own development.
Just look at the Detroit Pistons. This team already had Jalen Duren. Then, they traded for James Wiseman at the deadline. Eventually, one of them is likely to be heading elsewhere.
Could the Pistons get ahead of it by sending Duren to the Charlotte Hornets this summer?
