Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

Well, there’s a simple explanation there. 

Toppin is a 4. Perhaps he could handle some minutes as a small ball 5, but generally speaking, this is a power forward. By contrast, Avdija is equally comfortable at the 4 or the 3. 

That’s because of his superior lateral movement. Avdija is a multi positional defender. In other words, he’s the type of player who will endear himself to Tom Thibodeau. 

What does this mean for Toppin? We don’t know. In all likelihood, it will lead the Knicks to trade him as the season progresses.
