The NBA is full of young players that, given the opportunity, could look better than they currently do.
Getting those opportunities is a challenge. Sometimes, a young player simply makes such a strong case that they can’t be denied.
Other times, they need one of their teammates to get injured before that opportunity comes.
For example, look at Deni Avdija of the Washington Wizards. Observers have long seen his potential. Recently, he’s begun to actualize it.
Why? Well, partly, it’s because Kristaps Porzingis has been injured. If that’s the explanation, Avdija’s time in the spotlight may be limited. Apparently, the Wizards aim to extend Porzingis this summer.
Could they move Avdija as a result?
