In all likelihood, this isn’t the first offer the Blazers would make. They may try to angle for Bam Adebayo. The Heat should decline. Adebayo is a young star and would be essential to the Heat’s goal of contending with Lillard.
On the other hand, if the Blazers will accept this offer, the Heat should take it – even if it means giving up extra draft capital. Adding Lillard should make them one of the best teams in the NBA.
He happens to be a perfect fit as well. The Heat need a more dynamic perimeter threat. Lillard’s elite off-the-dribble shooting will add a wrinkle to this team that they don’t currently have.
