Some say that the worst place for an NBA team to be is in the middle.
There’s some merit in that argument. A team in the middle isn’t strong enough to content, but they aren’t weak enough to maximize their lottery odds. These teams are stuck in no man’s land.
On the other hand, they can simply opt to rebuild outside of the draft. Often, this is a position small market teams find themselves in.
They can’t afford to bottom out in a bid to maximize their lottery odds.
We’re talking about teams like the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers. Both of these teams are in the middle of the pack this season.
With that in mind, they could each choose a number of directions this summer.
