Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal 

Trading Lillard will not be easy emotionally. That doesn’t mean it isn’t the right decision. 

It’s not the only decision Portland could make. They could probably flip some of their own assets to upgrade the roster around Lillard. 

That’s a key point here – the Blazers have got a solid base of assets. Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons both hold plenty of potential. Following this deal, they could have one of the best rebuilding situations in the NBA. 

After all, they’d be adding Keegan Murray and Davion Mitchell to that young core. Throw in three first-round picks and two swaps, and who knows?
