Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal 

The Celtics have a number of reasons for making this swap. 

For starters, Williams III is extremely injury prone. It’s unfortunate, but it’s reality. This is a player who can’t be relied on to stay healthy. 

Moreover, there would be benefits in landing Bamba. He’d allow Boston to run lineups with five-out spacing that didn’t compromise their rim protection. This is a useful player. 

Finally, and perhaps obviously, the Celtics are getting a pick swap here. That could be an important piece in a trade down the line.
