That’s logical enough. A team that’s designed to win, and is losing, is a team in a tough spot. They can’t exploit the lottery to improve, and they are in need of improvement.
For example, look at the Chicago Bulls. This team is drastically underperforming in 2022-23.
Meanwhile, they owe their upcoming pick to the Orlando Magic with top-4 protection. They’ve gain nothing from losing games.Â
The Toronto Raptors do. They own their own pick in the upcoming draft. Still, it feels like this team wanted to win more than they have in 2022-23.
