Why The San Antonio Spurs Do The Deal 

In all likelihood, it depends on who the Spurs draft. 

If they draft Victor Wembanyama, they’ll likely want to keep both of their wings. The same holds for Scoot Henderson. On the other hand, suppose they draft Brandon Miller or Cam Whitmore. 

Suddenly, they’re adding a lottery-level wing to a team that already has two starting-caliber wings. It may make sense to diversify. 

If the front office agrees, this is a good deal. It has them adding a young playmaker who may have untapped potential.
