Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal 

The Clippers do this deal because they have had a disappointing season. If this team makes a surprise Finals run, they won’t be interested. 

In fact, even a Conference Finals appearance could keep the Clippers intact. For now, all we can do is assume that they finish close to where they’re currently projected to. 

In that event, it might be time to move on from the Leonard/George era. At the same time, the Clippers would still have George. They don’t need to plunge to the bottom of the league’s standings. 

For that matter, they don’t own their picks even if they wanted to.

With that in mind, acquiring a much younger player who can create his own shot in the half-court like Herro makes sense.
