Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal 

This may not be the ideal acquisition in the eyes of some Blazers fans. 

After all, we saw Lillard struggle to co-exist with CJ McCollum. It didn’t work. Eventually, it became apparent that two weak defensive guards couldn’t share the floor for extended periods of time. 

Here’s the thing – Harden isn’t McCollum. With no disrespect to an All-Star caliber guard, Harden is an elite playmaker.

Lillard has never played with a player like him – all he has to focus on is scoring following this deal.

Meanwhile, the Blazers should be able to retain Jerami Grant here too. That’s a formidable trio. if they can round out the rest of their roster with stout defenders, they should be contenders next season.
