Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

As talented as Young is, Embiid is the best player in this deal. There’s no debate to be had on that issue. 

After all, Young may be an elite playmaker. He’s also a significant defensive liability. That’s not a concern with Embiid – this may be the best two-way player in the NBA. 

Perhaps that’s as important to the Hawks here as anything else. This deal helps them establish a new identity.

By pairing Embiid with Dejounte Murray, they’ll have one of the best star defensive duos in the league.

Adding Harris doesn’t hurt either. It could allow the Hawks to finally move John Collins in a separate transaction. Still, the main point here is this: the Hawks are acquiring Joel Embiid. 

It would be the biggest trade of the entire NBA offseason.
