Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal
We’ll give the Blazers some credit here, too. They’ve been sneakingly accumulating assets over their last two (otherwise disappointing) seasons.
Last season, it was apparent that they weren’t in any position to win a title. They pivoted into a tank. Now, they’ve got Shaedon Sharpe to show for it. This year, they flipped Josh Hart for a first-round pick from the New York Knicks.
Now, they’ve got the asset base to trade for virtually anybody they want. On a related note – they should want Joel Embiid. If there’s a more competitive offer out there for him than this one, the Blazers should do whatever they can to improve this offer.
After all, Embiid is one of the very best basketball players in the world. He and Lillard would be the best duo in the NBA, which would give the Blazers an automatic chance at winning a title.

If they’re able to retain Jerami Grant in free agency, they’ll be especially scary.
Should the Sixers put them in that position?
