We’ve all been in bad situations. All we can do is try to make the best of them. The same holds true for NBA teams.
This is an extremely competitive league. Every team in the league can’t be exactly where they’d like to be at all times. Sometimes, they wind up in a bad situation.
One of the worst situations a team can find themselves in is one where they’re getting a trade request from a superstar player. It’s almost impossible to get equal value for them.
Once the request is made, they’re a distressed asset.
With that in mind, the Philadelphia 76ers had better hope that Joel Embiid doesn’t issue a trade request this summer. At the same time, it feels like a possibility. If James Harden departs in free agency, Embiid could follow.
Could the Sixers send him to the Portland Trail Blazers?
