Why The Indiana Pacers Do The Deal

Lottery-bound teams are not generally advised to surrender so much draft capital for a star player. Butler is unlikely to carry this team to the NBA Finals next year. Are we sure about this? 

Frankly, no. At the same time, adding Butler to this team should make them quite formidable. They’ve already looked competitive at times this year, and this is a tremendous upgrade. 

The fit is there, too. The Pacers have the five-out spacing to account for Butler’s subpar shooting. Running so much offense through one of the league’s best snipers in Tyrese Haliburton doesn’t hurt either.
