Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
The Knicks are not using any complicated logic here. They’re getting the best player in the trade.
LaVine may be more dynamic offensively, but Davis is a two-way force. Anyway, it’s a moot point – the Knicks aren’t giving up LaVine.
They’re giving up one player who’s not always a positive contributor in Barrett. He’s got potential, but if the Knicks are in win-now mode, he’s dispensable.
Robinson isn’t – unless he’s being directly replaced, that is. He is here. The Knicks are landing a much better offensive player who makes up most of Robinson’s defensive impact.
