Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

The Hawks have some of the opposite logic in play here. They can afford to lose Capela if they’re adding Adebayo. 

As a matter of fact, the two together would be unplayable. If Atlanta is interested in flipping Young for Adebayo and Herro, they might as well add their starting big man into the package. 

That’s part of the reason they’re getting a pair of first-round picks here. The other is their willingness to take on Duncan Robinson’s deal. Is that adequate value for them? 

Yes. This deal recoups some of the draft capital they lost in the Murray deal. It also gives them a strong defensive identity.

All told, this is a good trade for the Hawks if they’ve got non-basketball reasons to move Young.
