Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal 

Do we need to justify this deal from the Suns’ point of view? 

They’re building a super team. That would hold true by any standard. Adding Irving to a core featuring Durant, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton would leave the Suns with the most talent in the NBA. 

In fact, they may already have the most talent in the NBA. If the Suns win the NBA championship this season, they may not want to do this trade. Why give up a pair of pick swaps when you’re already atop the mountain? 

On the other hand, say they fall short of the ultimate goal. If this deal is on the table, the Suns have to accept it.
