In a similar vein, giving up on an NBA contender isn’t easy, either. 

After all, a general manager puts a lot of work into building one. Once a team gets close, but not close enough, there’s always a temptation to see if they can do it in the following season.

Sometimes, that temptation can lead teams astray. It’s not advisable to overcommit to a contender, either. There’s value in recognizing when your window has closed. 

Either one of these teams could come to that realization this summer. In all likelihood, it will depend on how the rest of the season plays out.
