Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal 

If the Sixers are doing this deal, it means the sky is falling. 

Once again, we can assume that Harden left in free agency. That likely means the Sixers had a disappointing playoff run. This could create a perfect storm for Embiid to request a trade. 

In that event, this is a good return for a team that will be forced to rebuild. Bane is the highlight. He and Tyrese Maxey will form a young, hyper-talented backcourt that could define this team in a few years. 

On the other hand, they’re also landing four unprotected first-round picks in addition to a young star.

That’s a hefty price for the Grizzlies to pay, but the Sixers shouldn’t settle for any less for a true MVP candidate.
