There is no precise model for rebuilding an NBA team. On the other hand, if there is one, the Memphis Grizzlies may be providing it. 

What’s the most important aspect of a rebuild? Is it landing a franchise player? If so, the Grizzlies are good. Ja Morant obviously has enough talent to carry this team on a deep run. 

Of course, some may say that surroundings that star player with support is just as important.

The Grizzlies have succeeded on that front, too. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane are quality co-stars, and this roster is littered with good role players. 

On the other hand, some may argue that the Grizzlies are a major trade away from true contention. Often, that’s how a contender is finalized.
