Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal

The Sixers don’t do this deal on a whim. Plenty of factors would have to hold to make it viable for them. 

Firstly, James Harden would have to leave. That does appear to be a looming possibility. If the Sixers don’t make a deep playoff run, he may be on the move again. 

In that event, they’ll be left with limited options. This team is light on draft capital. Even if they were willing to trade Tyrese Maxey, they won’t be able to land a player on Harden’s level. 

It may be time to rebuild in Philly. If so, two promising young players and four first-round picks is a significant return.
