Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
Ironically, the Bulls probably could have used Bamba during this iteration of their team.
A rim-protecting big who offers some floor spacing would have been more helpful than Nikola Vucevic. He’s a more talented offensive player, but his defensive shortcomings have been a problem for a team without sufficient stoppers.
Such is life. The Bulls aren’t landing Bamba to help them compete next season. They’re landing him as part of their rebuild. In all likelihood, this wouldn’t be the only move they made this summer.
After all, they’ll get a bigger haul for LaVine. If the Bulls are going this route, they’re launching a wholesale rebuild.
