The Lakers had to know they’d struggle, didn’t they? They struggled with a very similar roster last season. Meanwhile, fans around the league suspected that LeBron James and Russell Westbrook would have difficulty playing together.
By contrast, the Bulls were solid last season. Still, the collective defense between their star players was always a concern. This year proved that those concerns were valid.
All told, there’s a lesson here. NBA teams shouldn’t just aggregate as much talent as they can.
