Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

Realistically, the Hawks don’t do this deal unless rumors surrounding Young’s dissatisfaction have some truth in them. 

If they do, this team could use a fresh start. This deal gives them one.  If they made it, they’d have a defensive-minded group built around Dejounte Murray heading into 2023-24. 

Isaac could be a huge part of that identity. Granted, he’s a gamble. Isaac has spent more time on the shelf than he has on the floor in recent years. With that said, he’s been a little healthier than usual this season. 

He’s also flashed clear Defensive Player of the Year potential when he’s had the opportunity. Isaac is talented enough that he could still be a star in this league.

Even if he isn’t, the Hawks are getting four unprotected first-round picks in this draft. They’ll need that insurance. After all, nobody said Isaac’s path to stardom would be easy.
