Atlanta Hawks Receive: F/C Jonathan Isaac, G/F Gary Harris, 2023 First-Round Pick (CHI via ORL), 2025 First-Round Pick (ORL), 2027 First-Round Pick (ORL), 2029 First-Round Pick (ORL)
Orlando Magic Receive: G Trae Young
Meanwhile, the market for limited star players may have been set this summer. Yes, we’re talking about the Rudy Gobert trade.
The Minnesota Timberwolves moved four first-round picks, along with some quality players, to receive the rim-protecting big man. That’s certainly a large package.
Some would suggest that it’s too large. The truth is that Gobert is complicated. He’s one of the best rim protectors in NBA history, but he’s not very versatile on defense. He’s an elite rim runner and screen setter, but he can’t create his own offense.
Young certainly can. On the other hand, he’s one of the worst defenders in the NBA. However, he can be the engine of an offense with his incredible scoring and playmaking.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks & Orlando Magic Updates
The Magic have a lot of pieces they could deploy around Young to construct an impressive all-around unit. They wouldn’t become one of the more interesting rising squads in the league.
Should the Magic invest this much in him anyway?
