Brooklyn Nets Receive: F OG Anunoby, G/F Gary Trent Jr.
Toronto Raptors receive: G/F Ben Simmons, 2025 First-Round Pick (PHX via BKN), 2027 First-Round Pick (PHX via BKN), 2029 First-Round Pick (DAL via BKN), 2030 First-Round Pick (BKN)
This is because there is one thing these different types of players have in common – they are unable to create in half-court sets.
For 3-and-D wings like Anunoby, they simply don’t have the chops. It isn’t a significant knock on their skillset – it is one of the most valuable in the market. There is simply no way for them to carry an offense as they don’t have the ability to do so.
On the other hand, jumbo playmakers like Simmons are capable of creating on a situational basis. As a result, they are able to dominate a half-court set against certain defenses.
On the other hand, in comparison to other competitors, they don’t have the speed advantage that they need to achieve this.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Ben Simmons, Brooklyn Nets & Toronto Raptors Updates
There is no doubt that Simmons is a bit exceptional in that regard. As a result of his passive style of play in recent years, he has not been able to create or score in the half-court against, well, anyone.
Is it still worth it for the Raptors to target him anyway?
