Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal
It is important to note that this trade is dependent on where their pick lands for the Rockets, as it is dependent on how this season plays out for the Hawks as well.
There is no doubt that if they finish strong, they won’t want to move their franchise player. It is possible, however, that they may entertain that possibility if they continue to disappoint.
This possibility has already been rumored in the rumor mill for quite some time now. As it has been reported, Young and the Hawks have not been on the best of terms lately. It would seem that they have an incentive to move him if that is the case.
This would be a good move on the part of the company. In this case, the Hawks get the opportunity to select a blue chip prospect, a talented young combo guard (if not a point guard) in Kevin Porter Jr, and a large return of future draft capital in return.

Additionally, it doesn’t hurt that Porter Jr. is good friends with fellow Seattle native Dejounte Murray as well. Regardless of whether he is a point guard or not, this is a fair price for a player of his caliber.
