It may be a step too far to go that far. In the NBA, there can still be bad contracts – they just have to be on max contracts in order to be considered bad. 

A player who is on a max contract and isn’t living up to it can be very difficult to trade for if he isn’t living up to it. It doesn’t matter whether he gets a first-round pick in exchange for his services.

It may be necessary for a team to attach multiple players in order to move him. There’s a good chance that it will be easier for you to just sit him down. With that context in mind, it is fair to say that DeRozan is on a good contract at the moment.
