Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

Some will question the value of adding Robinson to the Raptors. After all, they just traded a first-round pick for Jakob Poeltl. 

Well, Poeltl will be hitting unrestricted free agency this summer. He’s under no obligation to stay with the Raptors.

If anything, you should be questioning the logic of adding an impending free agent for half a season when you’re below .500. 

With that said, the Raptors could still make this work. They could sign and trade Poeltl, or expand this deal to include a third team. Robinson will have value for them, whether as a starter or a trade chip.

Of course, he’s not the only asset the Raptors acquire here. They’re also getting a pair of first-round picks. All things considered, that’s a good return for Anunoby.
