Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

The Bulls may owe their pick to the Magic this season. Next year, they’ll own their own selection outright. 

Meanwhile, this team has not looked like a serious title contender this season. It probably won’t. If the Bulls’ season does fizzle out in 2022-23, they ought to be looking to make major changes this summer. 

This would be a good change. They’re acquiring a young player who still has some star potential in Barrett. Some would even argue that Toppin has the same.

Moreover, they’re getting an unprotected first-round pick and a swap.

Some might suggest that they should get more draft capital. We’d counter that they need to choose between more picks and Barrett. The Bulls would do well to nab a player that’s already proven something on the NBA level.
