Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal 

Actually, the answer to that question is obvious. This deal gives the Sixers a backup big man. 

As constructed, they don’t have a viable one. Montrezl Harrell can be a good option in some situations, but at 6’7, he’s an undersized big. 

Nobody could accuse Drummond of being undersized. He gobbles up rebounds like his life depended on it and offers some rim protection to boot. He’d be an upgrade for this team. 

Meanwhile, he’s coming at the expense of a player the Sixers may not trust anyway.
