It may not take a team an entire rookie contract for them to realize that they do not want to extend a player once the contract has expired. In that case, why not move him ahead of schedule if they have already decided on that conclusion? 

It is possible that this is the case with Bones Hyland in Denver. As a result of one reason or another, his playing time has been declining lately for one reason or another.

In my opinion, it appears as if the Nuggets do not see him as a future member of their team. This may be due to the fact that they are so focused on the present. There is no doubt that the Nuggets are real championship contenders.
