Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Kyrie Irving 

As a result of the Brooklyn Nets’ draft situation, their outlook is further complicated. 

There is no point in bottoming out on lottery odds in order to win. As a matter of fact, this team has an obligation to the Houston Rockets for the foreseeable future as it owes them its first-round pick, either outright or through a swap. It is likely that they will choose to remain competitive in order to stay in the game. 

As a result of this deal, they should be able to do so. Despite the fact that Irving is the most talented player in this group, this trade does make them deeper than they were before. They might be able to stay competitive if they can persuade Durant to stay with them. 

There is no guarantee that it will do the same for the Utah Jazz. That’s fine. The team owns the upcoming pick – they can bottom out at any time. In the meantime, adding Irving to the Los Angeles Lakers is a no-brainer for the team.
