There is no doubt that the Knicks are a win-now team making a win-now upgrade in this particular trade scenario. 

In spite of the fact that Bey may still be young, he is already a productive player. There is no doubt that the Knicks would be interested in acquiring Bey, since he is a far better player than Reddish at the moment. 

It is also worth noting that he is a relatively cheap addition, as the whole world knows that the Knicks are planning to eventually trade a number of draft picks in order to acquire a star player.

By securing this deal, they are able to keep that plan in place – they are only parting with one first-rounder that will not land in the lottery.

In regards to the Knicks, losing Reddish shouldn’t be a big problem since he is not a major part of their roster. It has become obvious by now that they do not see him as a significant part of their team.
